Sunrisers announce Tristan Hayes and Jeremiah Moya as Brass Co-Caption Heads for the 2026 Season
The Sunrisers welcome back for their second season together Tristan Hayes and Jeremiah Moya as brass co-caption heads.
Tristan Hayes
Tristan Hayes has been involved in the marching arts for more than a decade and is committed to bettering the lives of young musicians. Tristan teaches at Copiague High School and now serves as the director of the Copiague Marching Band and Concert Band. In 2022, he started as the percussion director and arranger.
Drum Corps has always been an invaluable experience for Tristan, beginning in 2018 where he marched in the trumpet section at the Madison Scouts. In 2022, Tristan had the opportunity to work on the brass staff at the Jersey Surf Drum Corps as a trumpet tech for their show “Meet Me in Atlantic City.”
Tristan began his marching experience at Arlington High School in Lagrangeville, NY. As a student, he marched in the trumpet section for two years and marched in the drumline for two years. In 2019, Tristan was able to give back to the Arlington community as a winds and percussion instructor.
Tristan graduated from the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam and continues to study music education.

Jeremiah Moya
Jeremiah Moya is from Long Island, New York, Jeremiah is currently a music educator within the Brentwood Schools.
He recently graduated from Hofstra University with a degree in Music Education. While pursuing his Bachelor’s degree, he had the pleasure of working with the Hicksville Marching Comets and the Mineola Mustangs, serving as a Brass technician and Visual Caption Head for the latter. This past season, Jeremiah was on staff with the Brentwood Green Machine and assisted them in winning their State Championships at the New York Field Band Conference.
His first experience in drum corps was with the Sunrisers in 2016, which remains one of his favorite seasons he has ever marched to date. Jeremiah went on to march tuba with Troopers, Boston Crusaders, and Carolina Crown. After aging-out, he served on the brass staff at Music City and currently works with the Troopers as a tuba tech.
