Sunrisers announce Frank Mauriello as Staff and Ensemble Coordinator
We welcome Frank Mauriello back to the Sunrisers today as Staff and Ensemble Coordinator.
Frank holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Education and a Master of Arts in Music Theory and Composition from the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University. During his time at LIU, he performed extensively with a variety of ensembles, including the Percussion Ensemble, Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Orchestra, and Pep Band. He later earned an Advanced Certificate in Educational Leadership from Stony Brook University, further deepening his commitment to educational excellence.
Frank has been actively involved in the marching arts since his high school years and began working with marching bands and indoor percussion ensembles in 2005. He served as Assistant Director and Front Ensemble Arranger for "Rage," Long Island’s first independent indoor marching percussion ensemble. Over the years, Frank has arranged, instructed, and/or directed numerous competitive programs across Long Island, including Garden City High School, Roslyn High School, Eastport-South Manor High School, Seaford High School, Division Avenue High School, and Mineola High School.
Currently, Frank is the Director of Bands at Roslyn High School, a position he has held for a decade. His responsibilities include directing the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Jazz Band, and Marching Band. Under his leadership, the Roslyn Marching Bulldogs have earned statewide recognition, including multiple Governor’s Cup championships in every single class of the New York State Field Band Conference. The ensemble has also had the honor of performing in high profile events, such as parades at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida.
In addition to his work in education, Frank serves as the current President of the New York State Field Band Conference (NYSFBC). In this leadership role, he works collaboratively with educators, adjudicators, and program directors across the state to promote excellence in the marching arts. His presidency is marked by a commitment to fostering educational integrity, organizational transparency, and artistic innovation within the field band community. He is a passionate advocate for student centered performance experiences and has played a key role in developing long term strategic planning initiatives that support the sustainability and growth of marching programs across New York State.
His contributions to the marching arts extend beyond the scholastic realm. From 2013 to 2016, Frank was an integral member of the Sunrisers Drum and Bugle Corps leadership.
"I could not be any happier to have Frank back on board with the Sunrisers. His desire to build the marching arts across Long Island and beyond is truly remarkable." - David Hobart, Executive Director
